This immersive 3D video grew from a simple conversation between girls about walking home at night in New York. The small things we carry, and the quiet ways we try to “protect” ourselves.
In this video, a single evolving 3D object sits in the center of the scene, shifting in shape and texture as the story moves forward. It’s surrounded by a soundscape made entirely from field recordings I captured in New York — fragments of voices, distant traffic, music from an open window, sudden bursts of noise. Together, they recreate NY’s rhythm: vibrant, unpredictable, and at times, unsettling.
Rather than showing literal streets or figures, the work lets the changing form and layered sounds speak for the experience: the tension in the body, the quickened steps, the relief of finally arriving home. It’s a quiet story about vigilance and vulnerability, but also about the complexity of NY where is both inspiring and unrelenting.
